Efoil Racing League:
2025 Season Rankings
What is the 2025 Global Ranking?
-
Efoil Racing League takes on the responsibility of reviewing all riders who are looking to challenge themselves and push the sport in a competitive direction. To become a top competitor, the objective is to attend and race in events globally.
Practice, race against the clock, head-to-head, and push yourself to climb to the top of the rankings.
The better you perform at each event, the more points you accumulate throughout the season.
-
This points-based ranking system is the foundation that allows us to collectively push the sport forward. As the sport grows, so does the quality of events, formats, rules, prizes, and competitor skill levels.
-
Everyone.
At our core, the Efoil Racing League has a rider-first philosophy. The ultimate goal is to create the best possible events, challenges, and eFoil festivals—experiences that can be enjoyed at every level.
We want to maximize enjoyment of the sport and add purpose to why we love to ride every day.

Higher finishing positions earn higher points. Some events award more points than others depending on their Event Tier, explained in the next section.
For example, a Tier 1 event distributes 10,000 total points, shared among the top competitors (typically the top 16). All riders who compete in the event are still awarded baseline points for participation.
Scoring Components
Events can feature different formats, and some include multiple formats within a single competition. In these cases, results are combined to generate an overall event ranking.
Divisions are ranked separately. In some cases, riders (particularly women) may accumulate additional points by competing in multiple divisions within the same event.
All events include a qualification structure that allows accurate ranking beyond podium positions — typically ranking riders in groups such as 1,2–3,4, 5–8, 9–16, 17–32, and beyond.
Rankings take into account both time trials and event ladder results, allowing us to distinguish close placements fairly.
Climb the ladder, race your best, and keep your composure. During the 2025 season, riders who trained consistently, refined their skills, and managed risk effectively were rewarded with higher point totals.
Efoil Racing League also encourages organisers to design challenging race formats, while ensuring riders have sufficient practice time to learn the course and rules.
-
Organising, planning, and running successful events is difficult. We recognise and credit the organisers who take on the financial, logistical, and operational risks required to deliver high-quality competitions.
Their efforts form the foundation on which the sport continues to grow.
How Events Earn Points
Events are evaluated based on the quality they deliver to riders and the broader community. Factors include:
Participation and competition level
Fairness and governance
Safety standards
Logistics and resources
Media visibility and organisation
Value creation and sponsorship
Additional rider-focused considerations
Top-rated events receive higher tier classifications, which directly determine how many points are distributed to competitors.
Event Tiers
Tier 1: Excellent: 10,000 points
Tier 2: High Value: 8,000 points
Tier 3: Intermediate: 5,000 points
Tier 4: Developing: 3,000 points
Tier 5: Entry: 1,000 points
Eligibility Criteria
All events are eligible for grading and inclusion in the rankings calculator. At a minimum, events must:
Publicly publish event information
Provide a clear set of rules or regulations
Use a competition format that allows fair ranking
Collect accurate timing, race, or tournament data
Publish final rankings for all competitors
Events may be excluded if they are designed purely for marketing purposes, falsify results, or attempt to artificially create points for specific riders.
If you are aware of unfair practices or misconduct, please report it to us.
We also actively collect feedback from riders, organisers, and spectators. This feedback directly influences how events are evaluated and tiered. If your event is listed and you believe its tier does not accurately reflect its quality, we encourage you to contact us at info@efoilracingleague.com.
A Global Standard in Competitive Efoil Racing
The 2025 season had 13 events globally that pushed the industry to new heights. An astonishing number of 203 individual eFoil riders signed up to compete this year and put their skills to the test. These results show a substantial shift in the sport and the passionate community looking to take things to the next level.
Efoil Racing League sets the global standard for competitive eFoiling. With a singular focus on performance, regulation, and progression, we lead the industry by defining how the sport is raced, measured, and evolved.
Accelerating Innovation. Defining Champions.
Technological advances in the competitive landscape continue to push the limits of what is possible on an eFoil under pressure. New eFoils, wings, boards, batteries, and propulsion systems are constantly being developed and refined, giving riders every possible edge in the race to the finish line.
Race formats are evolving: designed to challenge athletes, raise performance standards, and narrow the gap at the top. Ultimately, however, it is the passion, skill, and determination of the rider that leads riders to climb the rankings.
Women’s 2025 Rankings
The Dawn of a New Era in Women’s Efoil Racing
The 2025 eFoil racing season has done more than just crown a champion; it has signaled a paradigm shift in competitive water sports. While the men’s division often grabs the headlines with raw speed, the 2025 Women’s Global Rankings tell a story of surgical precision, burgeoning international depth, and a singular athlete who has set a terrifyingly high bar for the rest of the world.
This year, the leaderboard wasn't just a tally of points—it was a map of a sport coming of age.
The Wicander Era: Unmatched and Unafraid
If 2025 belonged to anyone, it was Agnes Wicander (Sweden). Finishing the season with a monumental 8,970 points across seven events, Wicander did not just win; she dominated.
The stats tell part of the story, but the "how" is even more impressive. In the high-stakes season finale at the Fahid Island Watersports Festival in Abu Dhabi, Wicander was described as being in "a league of her own," maintaining a flawless run to be crowned the first-ever SFT E-Foil World Champion. Perhaps most telling of her talent was her performance at Foiling Week Lake Garda, where she finished her matchup just 1.5 seconds off the best time of top-ranked male rider Piet Varkevisser.
"My plan was just not to fall," Wicander admitted before her title-winning run in Abu Dhabi. "This sport is for everyone. This is just the start".
A Global Field in Pursuit
While Wicander sits comfortably at the top, the field behind her is growing in both skill and geographic diversity. 33 female riders were ranked this year, hailing from every corner of the globe—from the coastal waters of Latvia and Lebanon to the competitive hubs of France and the Netherlands.
Laura Jil Kurmann (Netherlands): Claimed the #2 spot with 4,060 points after a string of world-class performances, most notably at the Dubai eFoil League, where she solidified her reputation for high-speed consistency.
Natalja Tarasenko (Latvia): Secured #3 overall with 2,220 points from just two events. Her efficiency was clinical; she pushed Wicander to the limit in the Abu Dhabi final, proving she is the primary threat to the Swedish crown in 2026.
Rising Stars: France’s Nina Louesse (#6) and Belgium’s An Neirynck (#7) showed that European depth is the current dominant power of the league, while Turkey’s Selin Piskiner (#4) proved that the sport's reach is expanding rapidly into new countries.
Men’s 2025 Rankings
The Future of Flight: A Season of High-Stakes Evolution in Efoil Racing
The 2025 eFoil racing season has officially drawn to a close, leaving a trail of salt spray and shattered expectations in its wake. What began as a niche gathering of early adopters has transformed into a legitimate global circuit, with the 2025 Men’s Global Rankings revealing a sport that is rapidly maturing in both professional depth and technical sophistication.
This year, the leaderboard wasn't just about speed; it was a testament to strategic endurance and global consistency.
Chait’s Dominance and the Global Standings
At the pinnacle of the rankings stands Justin Chait (United States), who secured the #1 overall spot with a staggering 8,410 points. Chait’s path to the championship was paved through relentless participation, entering a season-high six events to build his lead. While others showed flashes of brilliance, Chait’s ability to consistently find the podium across diverse waters—from the Atlantic swells to the calm precision of European lakes—set him apart as the definitive force of 2025.
Hot on his heels was Spain’s Manel Arpa Zuriguel, who claimed the #3 spot with 5,860 points from just four events. Arpa Zuriguel’s efficiency was legendary this season; his performance at the Dubai International E Foil Race saw him make history for the LIFT team, navigating a technical hammer-head course to prove that fewer entries can still yield world-class results when paired with clinical execution.
Rounding out the top three in 2nd Place is the Netherlands' Piet Varkevisser, whose 5,970 points across seven events solidified a powerhouse podium that represents the sport’s strongest regions: the U.S., Spain, and the Netherlands. Piet along with Agnes, on the women’s division, can claim to be the most competitive riders and pushing the sport to by competing in 7 ranked events each.
A Truly International Field
The 2025 rankings underscore a massive expansion in the sport’s footprint:
172 male riders earned points this season, representing more than 30 countries.
Riders like Clemens Kresser (Austria) and Jacob Ranney (United States) rounded out the top five, highlighting the narrow margins at the elite level.
The mid-tier of the rankings is teeming with talent from Belgium, France, and Italy, with veterans like Tom Court (United Kingdom) and Alexandre Tete (France) maintaining their status as formidable contenders despite entering fewer events.
"Success at the top required not only podium performances, but sustained participation, adaptability across formats, and disciplined execution under pressure."
Additional Facts to Consider
While the point totals tell the "who," the "how" is just as compelling. If you are looking to add further depth to your editorial, you might consider including these insights from the 2025 circuit:
The Dubai Showdown: While Chait won the overall points race, the season finale in Dubai was a turning point. A crash in the Semi-final heats disqualified Chait, opening the door for Manel Arpa Zuriguel to take the "World Champion" title for that specific marquee event.
Technical Rivalries: The season saw a fierce battle of equipment. The Lift LIFTX and the newly revealed Flite RACE board, unveiled specifically for high-speed competition, became the weapons of choice for the top 10.
The "Grom" and Youth Movement: While the men's rankings are the focus here, 2025 also saw the rise of younger divisions, ensuring a pipeline of talent that will likely challenge the likes of Chait and Zuriguel by 2026.

This ranking highlights the countries that generate the highest competitive impact relative to their number of competitors.
It rewards quality over quantity, spotlighting nations that consistently convert participation into results.
Top 5 Most Competitive Nations:
Belgium
Belgium remains the gold standard for efficiency. With a qualified rider base and consistently high finishes, Belgian competitors convert participation into results better than almost any other nation.
Austria
Austria becomes the standout underdog once the minimum threshold is applied. With just enough riders to qualify, Austrian competitors deliver disproportionately strong results relative to their size.
Netherlands
The Netherlands is unique on this list. It maintains high efficiency despite the largest rider pool in the league, proving that depth does not dilute performance when the competitive ecosystem is mature.
United States
A large and diverse rider base still produces strong average results. The U.S. combines scale with consistency, keeping its points-per-rider high across multiple events.
France
France earns its place through depth and stability. While not the most efficient on a per-rider basis, its wide talent pool and consistent mid-to-high finishes justify inclusion under the minimum participation rule.
-
Maximum performance with minimal representation
This ranking highlights the brands that generate the highest competitive impact relative to their rider count.
It rewards quality, elite performance, and rider effectiveness, not just scale.
Top 6 Most Competitive Brands (2025)

JetWave
JetWave riders consistently convert starts into meaningful points. Small team, high impact, and a strong presence across multiple events.
Manta Foils
Manta Foils shows solid efficiency, producing competitive results without relying on a large rider base. A strong example of focused performance.
Flite
Unlike most high-efficiency brands, Flite combines scale and efficiency. With the largest rider base in the league, Flite still maintains a strong average points-per-rider output.
DIY eFoil Platforms
Independent and custom-built setups appear with few riders but still generate notable results. This category highlights experimentation and technical adaptability within competition.
