Foiling Week - Lake Garda

We have just got back from the latest SFT event in Lake Garda, Italy and the awesome Foiling Week, which is an event that brings together all forms of hydrofiling play. From Sailing GC32’s to Moths, all the way to pump foiling and the latest craze, eFoil Racing that saw again one of the biggest comity turn outs of riders that we have seen in Europe. After the success of the the eFoil Base event in Munich earlier in the season, the racing scene is popping off! Lets get into the action…

Track warm up for the head to head heats

The weekend of racing started off with a few riders getting there early, people turning up on the Thursday or Friday to get some time on the lake, see the place and ensure that the infrastructure could host the electrical demands of an eFoil race. After all that is the one major difference between us and most other forms of foiling, we may not need wind, but we do need power in order to train, warm up and race.

Friday came and we where straight into the time trials, as we have been developing over the years the first day of most racing events is taken up with practice, learning the track and then a seeding process for the main event that is organised by time trial results. This creates the categories, from Pro’s to Ammeters and the seeding for ladders as we move forward into the knockout rounds.

Some riders arriving late, missed the riding on the Friday, so the finals heats of the time trails where finnished on the Saturday before we started the knockout rounds, head to head racing and the final ladders for the rider advancement under the rulebook of the SFT.
